Welcome to Split – the center of Middle Dalmatia which is 1700 years old!
Roman emperor Diocletian had a good reason to built his palace in this place, which can still be confirmed today by Split's many visitors. You can see for yourself and experience Dalmatian charm and see what it is made of by coming to the town.
Go for a walk around town and let it tell you its story, supported by its many cultural monuments. In the evening visit you can visit many bars or discotheques, see some of theater performances, go to a good concert or to a photograph exhibition.
All these many events are parts of a cultural festival called Splitsko ljeto (Summer in Split).
In the very center of Split there is a popular beach called Bacvice. This is a sandy beach, which is also a meeting place of Split citizens. Another famous sandy beach is Firula, situated also near the center of the town. Other beaches in the vicinity are mostly pebbled and suitable for sunbathing and relaxing, and they are also safe for small children. Beach Bene near Marjan forest combines pebbled and rocky surfaces.
